 His Holiness Bhakti Mukunda Swami was born in Malaysia in a Tamil-speaking family. He is a dynamic bhakti preacher in Malaysia, Australia, France, and Switzerland. He established many temples including one in West Malaysia where Gaura Nitai deities and a Sri Balaji deity were installed.

Dear devotees, donors, and members,

We are excited to announce that His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji will be visiting Hamilton's Sri Balaji Temple on Monday, April 17th. We invite all devotees to attend this auspicious event and seek Swamiji's blessings.

The program for Monday, April 17th, is as follows:

5:00 PM to 5:20 PM: Swamiji arrives at Balaji Temple, Hamilton, and will be welcomed with poorna khumbham.

5:20 PM to 5:40 PM: Swamiji will perform arti to Sri Balaji.

5:40 PM to 6:40 PM: Swamiji will give a pravachanam.

6:40 PM to 7:00 PM: Swamiji will give his blessings.

From the 17th of December 2022 to the 14th of January 2023, Devotees in New Zealand have the Divine opportunity to pray and receive blessings in Dhanurmasam, as well as to attain Moksham (salvation).

Covid–19 Protection Framework – Red Alert Setting update: 24 Jan 2022

Temple is open to public during normal temple opening hours.

However, there are new restrictions in place for everyone to follow under Covid-19 Protection Framework – Red Alert Setting  and therefore please be guided by the following procedure adopted at the temple:

Please refrain from entering the temple if you are not double vaccinated (Both doses) – Covid Vaccine Pass is compulsory.

           Wearing mask is Compulsory.

It is compulsory for all above 12 years old to register your visit. Hence everyone should scan or enter in the register with Date, Time, Name and contact phone number,(Include all your family members)

We kindly again request all devotees to refrain from socialising and waiting in the Temple to accommodate other devotees.

 You may make your donation in cash into Hundi, and pay by Bank Card at the EFTPOS counter. Also you may direct credit SBTT Bank a/c 12-3171-0169613-00

The Temple is now open to the public: 4th April 2022

Sri Balaji Temple will reopen to the public on Monday, April 4, 2022, during regular business hours. All events listed in the APRIL monthly calendar will take place at the times listed.

Temple is closed to the Public: 25th March 2022

The temple is currently closed to the public until further notice.

Covid–19 update: 22nd December 2021

Temple is open to public  during normal temple opening hours.

To enter the temple you are required to:

•    Wash your hands

•    Wear your face mask

•    Show your Covid 19 Vaccination Pass

•    Keep social distancing inside the Temple (stay within your own bubble)

•    At any given time only 100 people are permitted in the premises.

•    All temple events from 1 December 2021 and 1 January 2022 will take place as advertised.

The temple will  remain closed to the public until at least Monday, November 15, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.

On entering the temple keep to your bubble (Your family members only) and  maintain 2 Metre distance from others including priests  and volunteers. Try and follow 2 metre marked areas

Please be kind and be brief in your prayers and attendance in the Temple as there are others waiting to come in for prayers too.When you reach front row you may able to have aarchana, collect Vibuthi and KumKum from the front table  and go for pradhakshanam round the Murthies. Theertham and Chadagopam will not be available until further notice..

You may pray at Navagraha and Utsava Murthies for a shorttime, again considering the waiting devotees.

Walk through community hall and pick up packed prasadam if available.

Walk out through Community Hall garage door and pick your shoes from where you left them.

Further to our Donation Appeal email dated 6 May 2021 we wish to remind  you the urgency of our appeal.

Sri Balaji Temple Trust, considering the humanitarian grounds, has  proposed a scheme called “Fight Against COVID19 – India Support Fund”.  We are appealing for your financial support.

Please donate whatever you can into the account: 12-3171-0169613-52.  The donations received from 9th May 2021 to 29th May 2021 into this account will be sent to a charity for providing support to the needy and vulnerable people suffering from the current crisis in India.

On Saturday, 29th May 2021, on the auspicious occasion  of Sri Narasimha Jayanthi, a significant Shanthi Homam for the world peace and health will be performed at Sri Balaji Temple, 2 Kent Street,  Frankton, Hamilton. Please register your interest with the priests for sponsoring and participating in the puja and homam.  Part of collection on this day too will be contributed towards this fund.

Sri Balaji Temple is closed to the public from midnight 17/08/2021 until  further notice in line with the NZ Govt's directive due to COVID-19 level 3 lockdown. Next review by Government is on on Monday September 6th. However, the priests will do Puja, Abhishekam and Harati, and will be available on Facebook.

Alert Level Update - COVID - 19: Sunday, 7th Mar 2021

Auckland is at Alert Level 2, and the rest of NZ is at Alert Level 1. These Alert Levels came into effect at 6am on Sunday 7 March.

The following steps will be implemented until further notice to prevent and contain the spread of this virus at Sri Balaji Temple, Hamilton.

Further, we request devotees to exercise caution and follow the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and other Government agencies for the protection of all of us.

Alert level update – COVID-19: Monday, 23rd Feb 2021

Hamilton is currently at Alert level 1 and Auckland joined the rest of New Zealand at Alert Level 1 at 11:59pm on Monday 22 February.

The following steps will be implemented until further notice to prevent and contain the spread of this virus at Sri Balaji Temple, Hamilton.

Further, we request devotees to exercise caution and follow the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and other Government agencies for the protection of all of us.

Important Information – COVID-19: Monday, 15th Feb 2021


Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced that at 11.59pm Sunday, 14 February 2021 all regions in New Zealand, except Auckland, will move to Alert Level 2. We will strictly follow the Government’s guidelines and need to keep up our physical distancing while maintaining a high level of hygienic practices.

Muruga/Karthik  is considered the commander of the Devas. Skanda Shasti is a festival celebrating the victory of Lord Skanda over the demon Soorapathman after a six-day battle.

COVID-19 update: November 2020

By the Grace of God and prompt actions by the Government and the community, we are being continued in the level - 1 alert.

The following steps will be implemented to prevent and contain the spread of this virus at Sri Balaji Temple, Hamilton.

1.         Sri Balaji Temple in Hamilton will remain open for public during usual opening hours.

2.         All normal daily pujas will be conducted but with a heightened sense of community Health and Safety.

3.         Every devotee entering the Temple will enter their names and contact details in a register. You can also scan the QR code pasted inside the Temple wall. This will help us provide information to Ministry of Health, if required. Wearing masks or face coverings is strongly encouraged.

4.         Devotees are requested that if you are coughing / sneezing or have flu like symptoms, please refrain from visiting to the Temple.

5.         If you have traveled recently into NZ, self-isolation for 14 days is mandatory – during which time you should not be visiting the Temple.

6.         All devotees are requested to wash their hands with soap before entering the Temple.

Further, we request devotees to exercise caution and follow all the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and other Government agencies, from time to time, for protection of all of us.

VIJAYA DASAMI (DASARA) AND LIFE MEMBERS DAY: SUNDAY, 25th OCTOBER 2020

VARA LAKSHMI VRATHAM is performed for the well being of all the family members. It is believed that worshiping Goddess Varalakshmi on this day is equivalent to worshiping Ashtalaksmi – the eight goddesses of Wealth, Earth, Learning, Love, Fame, Peace, Pleasure, and Strength.

Puja will be performed by our resident priests Sri Gopala Acharya Khandavilli and Sri Kishore Bhattar.

Sri Sudarshana Jayanthi Puja: 4th July 2020

4th July 2020 (Saturday) – 11.00 am

Sudharshana Jayanti is dedicated to the Sudarshana Chakra of Maha Vishnu. It is believed that the holy Chakra made its appearance on the day. Worshiping Sudharshana Chakra is equivalent to worshiping all the ten Avatars of Vishnu. 

The Sudharshana Chakra or the divine missile of Lord Sriman Narayana is one of the Lord’s powerful weapons in annihilating evil forces and to reinstate Dharma or the righteousness on the earth.

108 families are invited to take part on a ‘first come first served’ basis in this auspicious Homam and a donation of $21 is highly appreciated.

COVID-19 update: June 8th, 2020

By the Grace of God, the life is nearly back to normal, well as normal as it can be. This afternoon the Prime Minister announced that New Zealand will be at Alert Level-1 tomorrow (Tuesday, 9 June), with essentially all restrictions lifted apart from border controls. 

As a consequent of this change, Sri Balaji Temple, in Hamilton, will be opened for public during the temple working hours  and all puja events and ceremonies will be performed normally. Theertham and prasadam will be served to devotees. Please note that the contact tracing efforts will remain.

What is really important is that we continue with the basic hygiene measures – washing your hands and sneezing and coughing into your elbow, staying home when sick, getting tested if you’ve got flu-like symptoms, and continuing to be vigilant.

In continuation of the earlier notices and information bulletins posted on Facebook and website, the following information is provided to all devotees. By the Grace of God and prompt actions by the Government and the community, we are now going into level-2 from Thursday, 14th. While there is more choice on Alert Level 2, we still need to keep our physical distancing and maintain a high level of hygiene practices.

COVID-19 update: May 2nd, 2020

Access to Balaji Temple is closed for the public during COVID-19 Level 3. Our priests will continue to perform daily pujas and rituals at the Temple as per AGAMA SHASTRA.

SBTT has decided that the Darshan and access to the Temple is closed for the public with immediate effect until further notice. Further, priests will perform daily puja during temple working hours and have total restrictions on their social movements.

The kalasa contains water. The water will receive and hold the energy of the mantras. So it acts like a collector of sound energy. This energy is later infused during the abhishekham.
